➳ It's been two years this month since I listed my first wooden guest book on Etsy! The two periods that really stand out for me from a business perspective were at month #2 + #6. After 2 months in operation, I knew that this was going to work + that I wanted to do this full time.
At 6 months I took the plunge + started working full time on my business! It had been a big goal of mine since I was a teenager to have a successful online business + I'm really grateful to now be living my dream.
The Wedding Guest Book Co came about when I was working with a friend as a designer at his CNC Workshop (Computer Numerical Control). He had taught me how to operate the laser equipment + he always encouraged his staff to use the equipment + make things in their own time.
I had a friend ask if I could make a wedding guest book for him to give as a gift + that is where it all started. I spent time prototyping + playing around for a couple of months until I was happy with the design. I really wanted to make sure that it wasn't just beautiful but also functional.
The enquiries started flowing in after placing a 'brag' photo (I was very proud of my efforts!) of my final creation on Facebook to show family + friends. I've since set up my Etsy store + a stand alone website + the rest is history!
Our concept is to keep our designs simple yet elegant so that the wood is the real feature of the guest book. And also to offer a fully customised book so that every aspect is unique.
