"I love capturing the many different emotions on a Wedding day, the tears of joy, laughter, the reactions from the parents, Bridal party, guests and little ones. The portrait session ultimately is my favourite part of the day. I love scouting for unique locations and getting creative with the Bride and Groom. Recently I shot a wedding on Stradbroke Island. I spent hours the day before hunting around the Island for locations. This was a lot of fun and greatly satisfying when I got to share my vision with the Bride and Groom on their wedding day.
The Wedding featured here is of a Bride and Groom, Andrew & Laura, that travelled to Australia from Finland last year to say their ‘I do’s’ at The Chapel Montville. They chose to have their Bridal photos taken before the ceremony so they could spend more time with their friends and family in the afternoon. (Brilliant idea) On the day they were married it was 37 degrees, extremely humid and we were taking photos in the middle of the day! Trying to keep everyone cool and avoiding the harsh sun was quite a challenge but we did well.
If I were to offer any tips to Brides & Grooms starting out on their search for their Wedding photographer, I would say to stay true to yourself. Think about what you would like your photos to look like, do you like quirky, romantic, traditional, “loved up”, cheesy, abstract? Do lots of research, ask lots of questions and try to have a clear vision of what you would like your photos to look like.
It is important that the photographer and the couple are on the same page before the wedding. On the wedding day you will have a million things running through your head so if we are on the same page it is one last thing to be getting stressed about!" Amie shares.
Some of my favourite locations are shooting around the sunshine coast hinterland - I love it. There is such a romantic vibe and country feel to it. But I must say my favourite place so far has been Stradbroke Island. From the ferry, the terminal, the beaches, beach shacks and the cute koala that showed his face at the reception.
In June I am heading to the UK for a wedding which I am very excited for the experience of photographing a British wedding.
I knew my career would lead to Wedding photography when I realised how much my love of art and travel took me to my happy place behind the lens. I quickly realised whilst travelling the world that my passion was capturing moments, landmarks, art and people. It was then that I knew I needed to make photography a career!
This is the Wedding of Andrew & Laura, tying the knot at on a stunning September day last year.
