Designer of modern bohemian Wedding gown label Delila Fox Sierra tells us about how her label was born and the best part about what she does in her career as Bridal couture designer.
tell us about what you modern bohemain label offers Brides for their Wedding day?
Delila Fox is an Australian born Bridal label that speaks to the modern creative bride. We design unique, sophisticated yet experimental gowns for women who want something fresh and editorial but also elegant and sophisticated. Our gowns feature hand beadwork that is reminiscent of ancient artisans and beautiful silks, crepes and luxurious bridal fabric that not only feel beautiful to wear.
how and when was Delila Fox born?
Delila Fox was launched by our creative director/ designer Sierra Ramke in 2016. As the owner of Australian retailer Babushka Ballerina, Sierra wanted a creative outlet that epitomised her creativity and personal bridal style and designed the first Delila Fox collection. It has a special place in the Babushka Ballerina stores being that it has been thoughtfully designed by someone who works every day with international designers and brides of all styles. Delila Fox is always Authentic to Sierra's bridal style and will always be the experimental, creative favourite in Babushka Ballerina stores.
did you always know that you wanted to design Bridal couture?
I came from a fashion design background and always imagined myself designing Fashion. In my career, I fell into Bridal and have since fallen head over heels in love with Bridalwear. I never considered Bridalwear because I always saw it as a very mainstream industry though it is actually incredibly creative and a thriving industry for designers who push the boundaries. In the past 5 years the industry has really moved incredibly fast. Brides are now wanting something out of this world. So it's a good time to be a Bridal designer if you have a creative heart.
do you have any funny stories that you would like to share from your experiences?
We have started to sell a lot more of our gowns online to international clients though it always surprises me how many orders come from clients in Rural Australia. If only we could pack up a Delila Fox van and road trip around the country to meet all of these fabulous rural Brides to be.
what advice would you offer to a Bride that is just starting out on their search for the perfect couture?
Always find your inspiration on Instagram or Pinterest. Reach out to designers and seek to try things on or get more advice on your favourite styles.
do you have a personal favourite design?
As a designer we tend to love our styles quickly and move on even quicker so I usually get most excited about what's new however I will always have a few favourites. The newest collection, my favourites are ZENIA & FARROW and from previous collection the DION really stole my heart. It was the last design I created and has been a favourite from our brides, also very reminiscent of Meghan Markle's reception dress which is very fitting.
tell us what the best part about what you do is:
Being creative and having women appreciate that. I always find my most successful creations are the ones that I really let my hair down and go all out on. The styles that are least successful are the ones I tame down to be commercially accepted. From now on there will be no holding back and I have my brides to thank for that because It's incredibly fulfilling to be 100% authentic with your design and have someone wear that creation on perhaps one of the most treasured and romantic days of their lives. What an honour!
