how and when was True Paper Tales born? True Paper Tales was born out of a love for all things paper. After designing the invitations for my own wedding in 2016, I began dabbling in more and more designs and before I knew it, I established a little business dedicated to creating pretty things on exquisite paper!

what can True Paper Tales offer to Brides + Grooms for their Wedding day? We design fine art wedding stationery that will make a beautiful statement in setting the tone for your wedding. We love organic, free spirited, earthy and textural designs and use a combination of watercolour artwork and hand made papers to create this aesthetic.

Aside from creating pretty things on paper for your wedding, we are super dedicated to making our lovely customer’s lives that little bit easier by providing a happy and stress-free service. We offer a range of semi-custom invitation suites which means you can choose from our thoughtfully crafted designs. But we also love creating custom work to reflect your individual style, whether that be for “day of event” stationery or gorgeous little custom wedding maps.

did you always know that you wanted to design custom event stationery? I’ve always been a little nutty (obsessed) about paper goods, so looking back it was inevitable that True Paper Tales would eventually be born! But I didn’t always know that I wanted to design stationery for a living. In fact it wasn’t until last year when I took a break from my previous job of 18 years in the criminal justice field, that I realised how much I love designing stationery.

One of the loveliest messages I received was from a bride who told me that we were the nicest and most professional Wedding vendor she had dealt with. After losing a lot of money to a previous stationery designer, she said that I was able to earn her trust to redesign her entire invitation suite. It might seem cliche but we really do understand how much planning and investment our customers put into their Weddings, so as vendors we need to step up and provide the best darn service we can offer!

what advice would you offer to a Bride + Groom to-be that is just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding invite design? Do your research! Look at lots and lots of different designs and go with the one that resonates with you the most. Instagram is a great place for inspiration and tends to really showcase the work of designers.

Before parting with your hard earned dollars, I would suggest reaching out to the designer and corresponding with them as this will give you a sense for how they communicate, if they understand what you are looking for and if they are transparent about their processes and timeframes. Wedding stationery can sometimes be a large investment for couples so you want to make sure that you are getting everything you want and more.

what is your personal favourite style? Our favourite style has to be watercolour artwork on handmade deckled edge paper. All of our handmade papers are from recycled cotton rag that has been ethically and sustainably sourced. This is super important to us. And we are totally enamoured by the deliciously fluffy edges that are created from the old world artisanal process of hand making paper. So much work goes into creating this perfectly imperfect paper goodness and we love to showcase our illustrations on this gorgeous canvas.

tell us about the best part about what you do: One of the nicest parts of this job is when I get to assemble all the beautiful piles of paper together, package them all up, and send them off to our lovely couples who wait in anticipation for their stationery to arrive.
