Meeting each other through mutual friends at the age of 15, Melbourne ocuple Alyce and David became engaged on their 10th year anniversary. "We booked a weekend away in Sydney for our 10-year anniversary of being together. We were getting ready in our hotel room to go out for dinner. David told me he had something to give me and then reached into his suitcase and got down on one knee. Here is their Wedding day captured by Ashleigh Haase, the 2018 Runner Up Best Wedding Photographer in Victoria.

what led you to decide on your Wedding venue? We love outdoor venues and the scenery at wineries. It was the first venue we visited in person. We fell in love with it the moment we went there and knew it was the venue we had to get married at. My favourite part is the backdrop of where we would have the ceremony. The views are astonishing. The venue has a lot of character so we knew we wouldn’t have to spend too much time worrying about decorations and the entire layout was exactly what we wanted.

what was the inspiration behind your Wedding theme? Our inspiration around planning our Wedding was for it not to be too traditional however just a day full of family and friends coming together to celebrate our love. I wanted to keep it simple and focus on the reason behind the day rather than getting caught up with too expensive flowers and decorations. The main focus was to keep it intimate and fun.

what was your favourite detail about the day? It’s hard to choose! We loved every detail of our day and were so happy with how it all came together. If I had to pick one I was really happy with our food. It was served as shared meals so guest could choose whatever they wanted to eat. The detail of the food was amazing and delicious.

tell us about your dress: I had found a dress I loved on Pinterest. It was simple and non traditional. I went shopping one day with my mum and bridesmaids however couldn’t find anything like it. I was starting to get worried that I might not be able to find the vision I had in my head. I did some more research online and ended up finding a shop that suited my style. I loved all the dresses in store but I found the exact dress I had previously seen on Pinterest and ordered it.

what does marriage mean to you? What marriage means to us is to best friends committing to spending their lives together. It wasn’t a hard decision for us and we knew how much we loved each other so it was a no brainer. Life hasn’t changed too much after we are still crazy about each other and having even more fun than before.

advice: Don’t sweat the small stuff. At the end of the day what’s important is your sharing your love for each other with friends and family. Your guests are going to remember how they felt on the day more than the style of your flowers. most favourite moment of the day: Our favourite moment was after we got married. We got to spend some time with the bridal party. We were taking photos, eating food and drinking together. It was a nice moment that we got to spend with the people we chose to have in our wedding and it was nice to take a breath after the ceremony.

any funny stories from the day? The day was full of laughs, but one that sticks out is when our best man’s mother was tearing up the dance floor and lost her footing in front of everyone. She wasn’t hurt and laughed it off with the rest of us.

any stand out vendors for the day? Ashleigh Haase, our photographer, was amazing on the day. She made everyone feel so comfortable and natural that we didn’t even realise our photos were getting taken. Our photo’s turned out amazingly and we are so happy to have these memories of our special day.
