"I like to visualise the day with my Bride and create a gown the compliments that. It’s her dream after all and I’m just making it a reality." Greta Kate.
The timeless yet modern beauty of a Greta Kate gown is made from the highest quality fabrics, imported lace and a passion for creating feminine, romantic and sensual collections & couture. We are excited to bring you our Q&A sesh with Greta on all things couture and how it all began for this amazing Bridal designer.

What can GRETA KATE offer Brides for their Wedding day? I like to think of it as Disneyland for women - it’s all about the experience and having some fun! In the first appointment I like to sit down with the Bride-to-be and talk about her day. I like to visualise the day with her and create a gown the compliments that. It’s her dream after all and I’m just making it a reality. I take into consideration what will work best with her shape, the fabrics, the styling, but overall I really just want her to feel absolutely incredible and walk away with her dream gown. It is such a huge honour to be part of such a special moment and a long lasting memory.

Did you always know that you wanted to design Bridal couture? No, but I’ve always loved creating things and working with my hands, so I feel incredibly lucky that my job entails all the things I love to do.

Take us back to the beginning - how and when was GRETA KATE born? Greta Kate was born in 2010 as a casual brand that was sold through trunk shows. With little experience and not a lot of direction I found some local work with another designer. After a couple of years, I generated enough confidence to start GK full time specialising in custom made formal wear. Through the requests of clients I designed my first Bridal wear range in 2014 and now we are working on our 5th Bridal range which will be showcased at the Adelaide Fashion Festival in October. We now only specialise in Bridal gowns and I absolutely love it. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Do you have any classic stories that you would like to share from your experiences? There are so many stories I could share, as every Bride has their own, but one of my favourite moments is when I place a veil on a Bride and her Mum gets a little teary. I always love a veil for that dramatic moment and I’m secretly hoping that the “veil effect” has the same impact on the Groom!

advice: Stick to what you feel good in and don’t be influenced by too many extra opinions from others. If you feel amazing on your Wedding day, you will look it and that is what is important.
Do you have a personal favourite style? I think it depends a lot on the client, but from our new range I am loving billowing lace sleeves and self covered buttons down the centre back of the gown.

What is the best part about what you do: I love my clients. I love working with them and making them feel super special. I also equally love working with my small team to create the gowns. It’s a very creative space and no day is ever the same.
