Expertly created in their Melbourne studio, GYC gowns are made with the contemporary Bride in mind and here Georgia shares advice, inspiration and how her dream label began.

Take us all back to the beginning - How was GEORGIA YOUNG COUTURE born? After a few years of studying Couture, I worked for a Melbourne Couture house for another three years. It was during my time there learning and observing as much as I could that I realised it was time to start the dream. I saw a gap in the market for modern designs. This is when Georgia Young the label was created for the Bride that didn’t want to look like a ‘Bride.’

Advice: Do some research (but don’t overwhelm yourself) and narrow it down to a few brands that you love. Be open minded and pick a few stores so you don’t over do it and overwhelm yourself. Enjoy the process.

Do you have a personal favourite style? Modern, clean with a point of interest.

What can GEORGIA YOUNG COUTURE offer a Bride for their Wedding day? Georgia Young Couture has a strong distinctive design difference with our gowns, that isn’t quite like anything else. With the use of strong lines, geometric shapes, clean fabrics and contemporary vibes, these gowns are the perfect piece for the modern Bride.

Did you always know that you wanted to design Bridal couture? From an early age I taught myself to sew on my mother’s old sewing machine. Taking every opportunity to learn more, I took on a part time job within the industry at fifteen and later studied Couture. Designing for the Bridal industry was always my goal.

Do you have any classic stories that you would like to share from your experiences? I have been lucky that I really haven’t had any crazy or dramatic stories, all my Brides have been awesome, well prepared and so great to work with.

Best part about what you do: I am extremely hands on and across the entire process from consultations, designing, pattern making and sewing. I find designing new collection pieces really fun as well as working with my Brides.
