➳ How and when was Jordanna Regan Couture born? When I first started designing my own pieces, I resisted expressing my natural style and was more traditional and conservative in my approach. But in 2011, I made the brave decision to finally follow my heart, and let my own unique style shine through my work. I began creating couture designs that were true to me. I released my first wedding gown collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival in 2011.

This decision was the start of Jordanna Regan Couture

➳ What can Jordanna Regan Couture offer a Bride to-be for their Wedding day? Everything about my non-traditional designs is bespoke, and each gown is as unique as the Bride who wears it. I focus on building an understanding of each Bride’s personality and individual beauty before I begin the designing process. Then I source exquisite fabrics, laces and embellishments from all over the world to create a truly one-of-a-kind Wedding garment.

For me, every stitch and every tiny detail in my wedding couture gowns matters. I lovingly handcraft each dress, perfecting every line and hand-sewing the finest embellishments.

➳ Did you always know that you wanted to be a fashion designer? I was 10 years old when my Grandmother gave me a sewing machine, and I’ve been in love with designing ever since. Largely self-taught, I was captivated by the way a simple piece of fabric could be transformed in so many different ways. After studying Clothing Production and Textiles, I further honed my craft working alongside designers on Bridal and evening wear.

➳ Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? I won my first design industry award in 2014, just three years after founding my couture Wedding gown business. To be recognised at this level so early in my career was an incredible achievement, and one that I have continued to build on. The award was Winner of the Avant Garde Category, Queensland Brides Design Awards. The winning Bridal dress perfectly showcased my extraordinary and unique skills: a bold and adventurous couture gown that featured black silk, intricate silver beading and a stunning alternative headpiece.

In 2015 Miss World Australia, Courtney Thorpe, wore the gown for the crowning ceremony where she handed over her title.

Since then we have had the privilege of dressing other socialites for numerous events.

➳ What advice would you offer to a Bride that is just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding dress? The couture experience is an involved journey that is focused around the Bride and her hopes and dreams for her perfect Wedding. It is very important that the Bride and couturier talk openly about the vision they are creating. We recommend not trying on too many gowns prior to the initial consultation as it can become confusing and overwhelming.

➳ Do you have a personal favourite style? When designing my gowns, I like to incorporate a lot of lace work and intricate detailing. All of my gowns are structured to accentuate the female silhouette and to show the Brides' true beauty.

➳ What is the best part about what you do: As a designer, I draw inspiration from unexpected and far-away destinations. I’ve travelled extensively, seeking out different cultures, design trends and sewing techniques.

But most importantly, the inspiration I draw from the Bride herself. I adore forming relationships with the Brides I work with, and it gives me enormous pleasure to bring their personal mystique to life in the most beautiful way possible.
