"I started my own Ready-to-wear label in 2005 but have always felt custom made couture is where my heart is. I launched the couture label in 2013 to pursue my passion for couture know-how and craftsmanship." George - George Wu Couture

What can GEORGE WU COUTURE offer a Bride to-be for their Wedding day? Every Bride is different, so we really take our time to understand their vision and bring it to life. Our couture work emphasises on inner body support structure, making Brides feel confident knowing every detail is taken care of.

Did you always know that you wanted to be design Bridal couture? I have always loved the art of old world couture know-how, and the skills we have are suited to the Bridal industry perfectly. I began making evening wear for friends then started getting requests for Bridal gowns which lead to where I am now.

What keeps you inspired along the way? The best inspiration always comes from each individual; every Bride has their own vision.

Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? When a close friend asked me to create her Wedding gown, I sat down with her to figure out what style suited and what details were meaningful to her. The whole journey was really enjoyable but I didn’t have emotional attachment to it until the ceremony. I was so moved seeing her walk down the aisle, and that’s when I realised the importance of the emotional value of “the dress” for every Bride’s Wedding day.

What advice would you offer to a Bride that is just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding dress? Thoughts of their Wedding day gets Brides excited about the dress search, so it’s easy to fall into the trap of “loving everything.” I always recommend narrowing down to specific details and silhouette selection by asking yourself “why is this particular detail so important to have on the day?”

Do you have a personal favourite style? I personally love the feeling of light and ethereal. Whether it’s a ball gown style or fitted silhouette, I love something that flows like air and inspires effortless confidence.

What is the best part about what you do? Working with my team, who create the one-off pieces with me along the way.
