Based along the Mornington Peninsular, Sophie shares how it all began for her and some expert advice on finding the perfect Bridal makeup Artist.

how and when was MAKEUP BY SOPHIE KNOX born? I was doing beauty therapy, and just got more and more into the makeup side of things. Until one day I bit the bullet and started freelancing full time.

what can MAKEUP BY SOPHIE KNOX offer a Bride to-be for their Wedding day? I have literally created the makeup for 100's of Brides. My experience, teamed with my laid back personality gives the Bride more of a fun and enjoyable stress free day. Which is creating really nice memories for their Wedding day.

did you always know that you wanted to be a hair and makeup stylist? Growing up, my mum always had a hair salon, so I guess its somewhat in my blood. My mum, my sister and my cousin are all hairdressers, so everyone expected that I would be. I rebelled against that idea, always stating I was going to have a 9-5 office job. Anyway I went from PR to Graphic design, and then into beauty therapy. Which I loved, I think thats why I still have a thing for skin and eyebrows. To eventually being that booked up with Weddings I had to sell my little salon.

what keeps you inspired along the way? Besides the obvious Instagram & Pinterest - I am lucky enough to work in a building with some other amazingly talented women in the Wedding industry. They inspire me every week with their creativity and passion.

advice: Keep true to yourself! Make sure you find someone with a style of makeup or hair styling you like. If you like Insta makeup, find someone who has cut crease eyeshadow and lots of contouring on their social media. If you want someone who does unstructured and romantic hair, makeup sure their social media is showing that. And make sure you get along with the person. They are with you for a long time on your wedding day.

do you have a personal favourite style? My own personal style is quite relaxed & effortless hair styles and beautiful glowing makeup. I personally love skin to look like skin. I love enhancing natural beauty.

please tell us about the best part about what you do: Getting to spend the Wedding morning with so many Brides. Its so much fun! It's one of the most important days in their life, and they are surrounded with their loved ones. Everyone is so happy, its a really joyful day. I leave and I feel like I have been hanging out with my best friends all morning.
