How and when was MRS GIBBONS FLOWERS born? Mrs Gibbons Flowers was birthed in November 2016. David and I had moved to Queensland 2 years earlier and dearly missing working with flowers and creating on a regular basis. As always, we were creating friend’s Weddings and events so it was a natural progression.

Tell us about what MRS GIBBONS FLOWERS can provide for couples on their Wedding day? We provide a personalised service and pride ourselves on providing the most exceptional quality blooms. We work one on one with each client to make sure their dream comes to life, because of this we work on your Wedding only each day, to make sure the attention to detail is there.

What we are truly hoping for, is to give each of our clients that WOW factor as soon as they walk into their Wedding. It is our greatest joy when our couples tell us that they were blown away and we exceeded their expectations!

Did you always know that you wanted to design Floral couture? No I didn’t, I actually wanted to become a fashion buyer. My floral dreams were realised quite quickly though. There was a florist shop in Sydney who was super forward thinking and just incredibly stunning. My father would buy blooms for my mother from there and they had a line of gourmet and luxe products as well as the most unique and magnificent blooms. I was looking at getting a foot into buying and Dad asked the owner how they thought this could happen (just as a little chit chat) they offered to take me on for work experience and the rest is history!

Advice: Find a florist whose style is unique to you, do your research. A great floral designer has a great sense of their own style and really flourishes when given the opportunity to create within their talent. You will get the best out of them and you will be blown away by the end result. Have a budget in mind and be realistic of what it can involve. We ask for budgets so we can give options based on your inspiration and desired overall look, be open to options to fit within your desired budget as well.

Do you have a personal favourite style? I personally love modern whimsical; I love the quirkiness of adding a piece that brings a bit of drama into a creation. This really makes an impact and has a lasting impression.

What is the best part about what you do: Honestly the best part of what I do is seeing our clients faces when they first receive their florals. I love knowing that we have played a part in someone else’s dream and helped make that a reality. There is nothing quite like it.

I also love seeing people talk about their love story, the emotion involved, the stories. It just makes your heart explode!
