How and when did SEACLIFF HOUSE come to be? In 2015 we purchased Seacliff as a family holiday house after a few years of searching. We never planned it to be a NSW South Coast Wedding venue! We renovated the property early on to suit our tastes and after short time renting it out for holiday stays we started getting requests for Weddings. The agent at the time said we needed a DA from the local Council and to our surprise we found out the previous owners had already had it approved as a Wedding venue. Late 2016 was the turning point, a few Weddings were had there and they got out on social media. Every year since we've grown in popularity and now are largely booked out 18 months ahead typically.
Tell us about what SEACLIFF HOUSE can offer a couple for their Wedding day? Quintessential South Coast iconic views. We are blessed with 500 acres of dairy country around us and amazing Ocean views. There's a 5 bedroom house on the property as well as a custom built Barn which most couples now use on their Wedding day.
Did you always know that you wanted to manage a Wedding + function venue? We are the accidental Wedding venue owners. We're really grateful that this has happened though - we've met so many amazing people in the industry as well as our guests who choose Seacliff for their special place to get married.
Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? Once a year we have an open weekend where we invite lots of local suppliers. 2019 (first weekend August) will be our third year we do this and we typically get about 200 couples through the venue to take a look. This is loads of fun as we get to meet our guests face to face as well as couples that end up choosing Seacliff as their venue.
Advice: Once you've narrowed down the area you want to get married, lock in the venue and key suppliers like caterers and photographers as well as stylists. The South of NSW is currently extremely popular for destination Weddings and we're typically getting booked up 18 months in advance really solidly. If you are flexible I would also recommend 2 things: a mid-week Wedding so you can have the pick of the months and save yourself up to about 50% on event and Barn fees at Seacliff (as well as lower accommodation costs) and Winter Weddings (so cosy, weather can be amazing and again lower prices)
Tell us about the best part about what you do: Being part of a couples' Wedding day is a really big honour and we love being able to contribute in some small way to lifelong memories. It's also amazing being able to provide a venue which is completely flexible for our guests to create the day that they have envisaged!
