From Junior Graphic Designer to launching her own business, Leah loved many aspects of her job but enjoys being able to design things that are more her type of style and working on projects that she is really passionate about. "I launched
My Creative Space in 2014, whilst still working part time. After I went on maternity leave with my first daughter, I made the transition to being MCS part time whilst trying to figure out how to keep a tiny human alive #hadnoideawhatiwasinfor" Leah tells.
What can MY CREATIVE SPACE offer a couple for their Wedding day? MCS offers a unique and beautiful touch to a couple’s special day. I work closely with the couple to design and choose a coherent theme for their stationery or add to the tone of the celebration.
I can do anything stationery/signage/hand lettering related! From invitations to on-the-day stationery like menus, place cards, table numbers, welcome signs & seating charts.
I am always open to creative ideas, so I love custom enquires for something new!
Did you always know that you wanted to be a graphic designer? Not really! I have always been creative, my favourite subject was Art, so I went on to study Fine Arts when I finished High School. I discovered my love of digital art then but still didn’t know what to do with it. After dabbling in bespoke jewellery & cake decorating I finally (with a little kick in the butt from my hubby) signed up to study Graphic Design and have never looked back.
What keeps you inspired along the way? The couples and clients I work with! People are so different in how they approach their wedding day. Some people know exactly what they want and are clear in setting the directions for their day. Others need inspiration and options to consider. Some people need to see several variations before they decide, and others love one particular style from the beginning. However they approach the day, the best parts for me are packing up the completed products to deliver - and knowing that they will bring such joy! There is tremendous satisfaction in seeing a project through from initial design to the final product. And of course, the beautiful heartfelt thank you I receive after a job inspires me to start the next one with energy and enthusiasm.
And my fellow creatives inspire me every day! I am so grateful for the social media platforms and the way they have enabled me to communicate & connect with others in the same & similar industries all around the world. I love collaborating with other like-minded peeps and am always inspired by the amazing work I get to see every day #communityovercompetition

Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? I remember one bride to be who changed her mind four times about the entire style of her wedding stationery and who finally arrived in tears with indecision about which way to go. We met for coffee and we sat down with my portfolio of styles and simply divided them into ‘yes’ and ‘no’ categories. I helped her make a short list and between the two of us - decided on the perfect one. She wrote me the most beautiful note afterwards thanking me for helping to make the process so pain free & she had the best day of her life.
Advice: CCC…..Consistency creates cohesion! I am a huge fan of continuing aspects of your theme from the beginning to the end. For instance, try to keep fonts/lettering/colour palette from your invites, the same all the way up to your welcome sign/place cards/thank you’s etc.
Really think about the style that you and your partner love & use places like Pinterest & Instagram to get inspiration before deciding on your final look. Wedding invitations are an essential part of your planning as they are the first point of contact that your guests have to your wedding & they set the tone for your special day. That’s why I love covering so many areas when it comes to wedding stationery/signage, as I can help you from start to finish.
Favourite style? The Graphic Designer in me is fairly obsessed with minimal clean designs. I’m also a sucker for anything handwritten, lush handmade papers, wax seals & delicate silk ribbons.
What is the best part about what you do: Being able to call my hobby a job! I absolutely love what I do and I’m incredibly lucky to be able to create beautiful things every day. I feel honored to be a small part of so many beautiful couples’ special days.
