Jade, a Brisbane based Makeup Artist, has been working in the beauty industry for over 10 years, having previously worked in the retail side of the beauty industry working for luxury brands. With a love of making people feel good, but the pressure of selling just wasn’t for Jade so she decided to focus her energy on launching her own makeup artist business last year it's the best thing she has ever done!

My style as a makeup artist is definitely all about enhancing my bride’s natural beauty. I work with my brides to create a look that makes them feel their most beautiful for their special day. I really enjoy building relationships with my brides so that on the actual wedding day it feels like a friend is coming to be a part of their day.
Did you always know that you wanted to be a makeup artist?
I think I always knew I would end up somewhere in the beauty industry! Growing up I was always playing with barbies and doing friends hair and makeup at sleepovers, so it was definitely there from the start. I couldn’t imagine being in any other industry.
I am inspired by so much! I love a good red carpet like the golden globes and academy awards – I feel like you can always pick up some lovely trends from them. Other professional makeup artists provide me daily inspiration through social media. At the end of the day every time a new client sits in front of you it provides inspiration, as no two faces are the same.
What advice would you offer a Bride that is just starting out on their search for the perfect bridal stylist?
Think about how much makeup you wear on a daily basis and how much you will feel comfortable wearing on the day – I think it is SO important to feel like your true self on your wedding day. Consider what your favourite features are and what you want to enhance on your special day. Then do your research and look around at makeup artists in the area where you are getting married. Find someone who’s work you love and that matches the kind of look you are after – social media provides an instant portfolio or lookbook of someone’s work.

I love a subtle glam look for brides – soft smokey eyes, highlighted and defined features and pink or nude lips. I also have a soft spot for a vintage bridal look with red lips and winged eyeliner.
What is the best part of what you do?
Making people feel amazing! There is nothing better than finishing someone’s makeup and seeing the look on their face light up. Helping people feel beautiful and confident is such a special thing to be a part of.
