"Freek was born in 2017 (we are very fresh still) - My best friend was getting married and she decided she wanted to make her own bouquets (on the day, haha) and naturally I obliged to help her, but refused to do them on the day (thank god, haha). So off I went, found the markets, purchased what we needed and made the bouquets. She got so many compliments and asked who the florist was so she pushed me to explore it more. Turns out I loved it and I craved the hands on creativity floristry gave me!
"Throw that rule book out the window, make new traditions and be who you are with no apologies." Eden | Freek Florals
The name, Freek, came from my love of Japanese artists, especially the work of Katsushika Hokusa and 'The Great Wave of Kanagawa'. I read (somewhere) that is was described as a "freak" wave, interpreted in so many different ways, but Hokusa's ultimate goal was to represent the intimate connection between humanity and nature.......I wanted to do just that!" Tell us about what Freek Florals can offer a couple for their Wedding day?My job at Freek is to create the obscure, to push boundaries and tap into the unique, weird and wonderful materials of nature. I really look to transform flowers, giving them new life. This new life is reflective of my couples, each design is specifically created for them, I LOVE to embrace their unique magic and express this through a tailored concept that reflects them, obviously with parts of me!
Freek is for those lovers who dare to be different, who dare to throw that rule book out the window, to make new traditions and to be who they are with no apologies.
Did you always know that you wanted to create floral magic for weddings and events?
Definitely not! I have a bachelor in interior architecture and worked as a designer for a while. I was ALWAYS drawn to installations, and knew thats what I wanted to do, I just didn't know how and with what materials! And then I found floristry and the puzzle is somewhat complete!

One day I was on site installing for a job, a random tradie walked past, stopped, stared and just looked at me..... he said one word to me "Artist" and walked off. It was the most amazing feeling when someone unexpected really appreciates your work.
What advice would you offer to Nearly Weds who are just starting out on their search for the perfect floral stylist for their wedding day?
Make sure you pick a florist for their style, a style that reflects you as a couple. Pick someone you trust and get a long with! It makes the process AH-MAZING and you really do create magic together.
Tell us about the best part about what you do:
The best part, is the process, watching it go from this random concept that has been curated in your head to making and seeing the final product.
