Katie created The Queens Quarters to share her collections and to share her love and passion for event design and floristry. "I left my 9-5 job in administration to chase my dream of running my own event + floristry business + I've never looked back. It’s been a ride!" Katie shares.  Leasing a showroom in 2016 with absolutely no idea how to run a business or how the rent would be paid - Katie believed in what she was doing so much which has led The Queens Quarters to where it is today.

What can the queens quarters can offer a couple for their Wedding day? Im a hugger! So I can offer lots of hugs! But seriously, for me, any event, especially a wedding is all about the experience. The flowers + pretty things are a bonus. From the minute a couple walk through the studio door to the morning of their special day, it’s all about creating an enjoyable experience, building a friendship + building trust to be the person responsible to create magic + bring their vision for their special day to life!

Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? Lots of funny ones but a lot of special ones too. I think a wedding and moment I will remember forever is my clients Vanessa and Chris’s wedding day. It was the first large installation I had ever designed, that they allowed and trusted me to create. Two huge caged installation pillars jam-packed with blooms. I hid in the corner for the ceremony as I had to re locate it and got to see them straight after they said their vows. They came across the lawn and both gave me the biggest hug and thanked me. They were so happy with what I had created for them. Both such beautiful people and a day I will remember always. The day I fell in love with designing floral installations.

Meet your florist or any vendors you are thinking of working with and make sure you connect with them. Its not always about the price. You want to have complete trust and feel comfortable with the people who are working with you on your big day!

2020 predictions:

INSTALLATIONS! Woo hoo! All of my brides want installations for their ceremony or reception and I’m loving it! For me it’s making sure each wedding installation is unique and is a representation of my couple, the venue and their special day.

The best part about what you do: The best part about what I do is the moment my client sees what I have created for them. Something that has come from a drawing or a picture that we worked on together in front of them in real life. Whether its handing over a bouquet to my bride the morning of her wedding or watching a couples face as they walk into their reception room. It is the most rewarding part of the job!
