Embracing the raw beauty + natural elements throughout this elopement styled wedding inspiration shoot, White Parrot Photography + Film bring a little Iceland and romance to the cliffs of the stunning Fingal Head location. "Our vision for this shoot was to achieve dark & moody look with focus on emotions. Our inspiration was Iceland for its unspoiled nature, wild, wind, cold and dark colours. Our colour palette was black, grey, green and blue.
Iceland became very popular for elopements but we could not make it there so we decided to bring Iceland to Australia. We were looking for real life couple for our styled shoot and dark hair model for our dark & moody inspiration. We were lucky we found Kiri & Kyle. Kiri has a Danish heritage, with beautiful dark hair and pale skin so she suited perfectly to our concept." Vera shares.
Shoot highlights:
Originally, we wanted to go with white wedding dress but during the shoot process, Angela, our dress designer, decided to make a blue/grey tulle skirt especially for the shoot!
Did you face any challenges on the day? If so, how did you overcome them?
We faced two challenges on the day. One was weather. Our original inspiration was dark & stormy. However, on the day of the shoot it was bright and sunny without a single cloud so we had to wait for sun setting down and we did everything in 30 minutes. Second challenge was terrain. The place we chose is very rocky and slippery so we had to watch our steps.
What led you to decide on this venue/shoot location?
We chose Fingal Head Causeway because of the resemblance to basalt columns found on Iceland.
Favourite details:
There were so many. Definitely seeing our model, Kiri, for the first time in a blue/grey skirt on the location. She looked absolutely incredible with dark makeup made by Emilia and with beautiful bouquet from Zoe from Bumble and Bloom. Also, photographing cake and wedding invitations on rocks with ocean in the background.
Favourite moments:
Working with Kiri & Kyle. They were such a lovely couple, easy to work with. Also, meeting Diana, our cake maker, and helping us with everything we needed on the location. She was able to create wind with our reflector if we needed.
