Asha and Josh met on a jetty in Jurien Bay, WA. Asha was 15, Josh was 17 and they had both been dragged on family holidays to this little town. We spotted each other at the beach, used our best pick up lines and were on our ﬁrst date that very night (my idea – ﬁshing – which I had NO idea how to do!) We fell in love, Josh followed me back home to the Pilbara to get a job on a local station while he waited for me to ﬁnish school, and then we moved back to Perth.

"We’re not a fan of “things”. So for my 22nd birthday I asked Josh to take me on a little weekend trip away somewhere. When he pulled out the GoPro and said he was going to create a little video of the weekend, I didn’t think anything of it. We roadtripped down south to Yallingup, Josh forcing me to get out and do some kind of little dance or jump at every stop for the “video”. For the last part of the video, we had to set the camera up on timer so we could both be in the shot. I was instructed to stand on the rocks in the beautiful blue ocean, before Josh came over to join me. Only to get down onto one knee and pop the question – all captured on ﬁlm! We had been together for seven years."

what led you to decide on your wedding venue? We asked ourselves which place in the world brings us more love than anywhere else… and the answer was easy! Beautiful Cable Beach, Broome.

what was the inspiration behind your wedding theme? Ourselves! And our relaxed, adventurous, “live to the fullest” attitude towards life. We knew it had to be an outdoor, beachy wedding.

favourite moment: Asha: My dad’s reaction to the dress reveal, Josh’s vows, seeing all of our favourite people together to celebrate our love and most of all, sitting down at our fairytale garden reception and looking at the stars thinking “wow, this was more amazing than we ever could have imagined”. Josh: Seeing my new wife walk down the aisle.

favourite detail: Seeing all the colours come together! The baby pink bridesmaid dresses with the baby’s breath ﬂowers and the boys’ beachy outfits. The candles on the tables, the fairy lights above, the little handwritten blackboards around the venue. All those small things that made the night so magical.

how was your dress/suit shopping experience overall? I didn’t realise how long it can take for a dress to arrive! I began looking about 6 months before the day and was told I had left it til last minute! I went in to the ﬁttings with no expectations, and quickly discovered the exact type of dress I wanted. The boys were a little harder – simple vs suits…? We did ﬁnd it diﬃcult when we started asking for too many people’s opinions. But as soon as we had made up our minds, and saw them all come together on the day, we couldn’t have been happier.

what does marriage mean to you? Getting to have the ultimate sleepover with your best friend, every single night of the week!

any classic stories you want to share from the day? The only thing upsetting us in the leadup to our special day was that our best friends weren’t able to make it – currently on the adventure of a lifetime travelling Europe. The day before, our friends took us out for lunch to “calm the nerves”, only to surprise us with our favourite couple walking around the corner. It made our wedding more memorable than we ever imagined, and we feel so incredibly grateful to have such amazing people in our lives!

what advice would you oﬀer to other couples planning a wedding? It’s YOUR day! Remind yourself what it’s all about… Love, love & more love. Does anything else really matter? Don’t second guess yourself, follow your heart, and make decisions based on what you know will ﬁll YOU up as a couple, no one else!
