Sugared Style

Tambourine Mountain based award winning boutique wedding planner + stylist Sugared Style was born as a sister company to Sassaffair Events. Working as an event manager for a mining company, Tanya always dreamed of starting her own event management business. "Life pushed me in this direction in 2012 and Sassaffair Events was created. At this time, corporate events were slow, so I assisted a friend of mine to plan her own wedding. I used this to see if my skills in the corporate world would convert over to weddings, and they did in a spectacular way." Founder Tanya shares.

"As a creative person, I completely love the thrill of making beautiful things for each and every client. When you receive one of my creations or walk in to a space filled with my flowers you can be assured that my love, sweat and (on occasion, literally) tears have been injected in to them.” Tanya, Creative director and founder of Sugared Style.

Soon after this, Sugared Style was born to focus on the planning and styling of weddings. Sassaffair Events still exists but Sugared Style is where Tanya's passion lies. Floristry services were added to the list of skills early in 2015 and they have not looked back since. "These days planning is something I have retired from to now focus on styling and flowers as these two services bring me the biggest joy." Tanya tells.

what can sugared style offer a couple for their Wedding day? A distinctive styling arrangement can completely change the atmosphere of any setting, from a white boardroom to a hotel ballroom to a rustic shed in the countryside.

From seasonal floral arrangements to mood lighting, fashionable furnishings, stationery with distinct personal accents and sophisticated table settings, we can help our clients set the scene for their special day with a cohesive creative theme complementing their chosen location and season. Whether vintage, retro, opulent, elegant, earthy, classic, modern, whimsical or theatric, all the necessary stylistic elements and a few surprise features in place will keep their guests talking for all the right reasons.

Beyond aesthetics, styling truly is an investment in presenting a couple's personality, ideals and dreams as a newlywed couple. It’s where intimacy and spectacle, tradition and trends, go hand-in-hand.

is there a story you want to share from your experiences? This story is actually from my own experience as a bride… when I was married in 2015 I had not long finished my training in floristry and I decided to create my own flowers. This was a silly decision. As soon as the pressure of the wedding set in, I forgot everything I had learned and I spent two days crying and stressed out. Yes I knew what I had to do but the emotions you experience in this life changing moment makes everything more intense.

DIY can be done and in some cases it is the right decision for a couple, however enlist more help from friends and family than what you need and allow yourself twice as much time as you think it will take. If hiring a professional stylist and florist will fit in to your budget then I suggest you do it. Speaking as a stressed out bride… I wish I had hired another florist and then spent those days leading in to my wedding relaxing and being pampered. I was so exhausted on my wedding day that I had a headache and just wanted to go to bed as soon as 10pm rocked around.

advice:
There are many many different styles when it comes to wedding florist and stylists. My advice for Nearly Weds is to look through the photos on socials and website for those florists and stylists they are considering, make a short list of those who’s work you love and then meet face to face with each of them. As with any supplier for your wedding, you will mesh better with the personality of some suppliers over others. Book those suppliers that you walk away from the meeting with, feeling stress-free and taken care of. Book the florist and stylist that you have full confidence in. If they get your vision, then your wedding day will be the perfect canvas to express your love.

2020 predictions: In 2020 I feel that the muted colour palette will continue. We will continue to see textural elements and signage with opulent fabrics and finishes. For flowers the mix of preserved and dried product in amongst fresh flowers has momentum and will flow in to 2020 which makes my heart happy.

tell us about the best part about what you do:
Seeing the reaction of a bride when I deliver her bouquet on the morning of her wedding is the best part! I also love when I am still at the venue when the couple enter the reception space and see their vision as a reality. Another perk is that I have developed many friendships with past-clients. I become emotionally invested in their wedding day and that leaves a lasting bond far beyond their wedding.
