how and when was baked couture cakes born?
Baked Couture Cakes was established in 2009. At the time, there were no local specialised bakers, so I began with a stall selling cupcakes at the local produce markets. Discovering a love for creating wedding cakes and working with couples to create the cake for their special day, I realised it was time to move on from the market and focus on my passion
what keeps you inspired along the way?
New trends inspire me to continue learning techniques which enable me to offer my clients’ the latest styles. Without a doubt though, there is no better inspiration and motivation to continue doing what I love than receiving excited emails and photographs from brides and grooms after their wedding day. Their messages of appreciation and knowing that I have contributed to making their day everything they’d hoped it would be provides the greatest feeling of satisfaction

advice:
Do your research and ensure that your designer is registered, insured, has plenty of experience with weddings and has been established for a while. Browse portfolios, read reviews, and choose a designer whose work is most similar to the style of cake you’d like. Keep an open mind to their suggestions and guidance and most importantly, don’t be afraid to ask questions. You should never feel like a bother - after all, it’s not everyday you get married so you are bound to have a few!

2020 predictions:
Although the trend of a naked cake with fresh florals shows no signs of slowing, classic white on white is slowly starting to return. Whether it be silky buttercream or smooth fondant with fresh white florals, the look is classic and will never date.
the best part about what you do:
Creating the cake for a couples’ wedding day is amazing, but watching them over the years to become families and creating the cakes for all their milestone events is even more special. I am truly honoured to play a little part in their lives.
