Australia based wedding stationery designer Anna Design Co creates everything from the wedding invitation suite to the on the day stationery like menus, place cards and signage. I specialise in luxury printing, custom hand lettering and simple illustration. I would describe my style as boho luxe, minimalist and modern.

how and when was anna design co born? I launched my branding and wedding stationery design studio in October 2018. I made a very early career switch into graphic design in 2015 after studying architecture. I worked in web and digital design at an advertising agency and then in-house for companies so I hadn't had a lot of experience in print.

Eventually, Anna Design Co. came about because it was a way for me to work with paper goods and stationery, something I’ve loved since I was a child. Since the beginning of my graphic design career, becoming a freelance designer was always on my mind—but I’m glad that I got some work experience before going out on my own.

Hand lettering was a hobby of mine, and I had always loved luxury printing like letterpress and foil press, so it felt natural to focus in on that and start working with clients who resonated with my style.

is there a story you would like to share from your experiences? It was a proud moment for me when my sister’s wedding was featured in an issue of a wedding magazine. I designed her wedding stationery—she was one of my first wedding clients!

advice: Pinterest is the best place to start. There are so many beautiful images of weddings and event styling on there to inspire you. Pinning as many of your favourite images will help you discover the style and colour palette you’re most drawn to. As a designer, I love to see a client’s vision board. I believe the wedding stationery and signage should be a seamless extension of the dresses, floral arrangements etc. Looking through wedding magazines and blogs will help you gather inspiration too.

2020 predictions: Luxury printing methods will continue to be popular for wedding stationery—foil press is timeless and will always be special. I especially love layering different printing methods, like a blind debossed background illustration with gold foil text over it. Layering adds a subtle dimension to a design without making it look overwhelming. Upcoming style trends will have a lot to do with the paper—die cut card shapes and layered pieces.

the best part about what you do: The best part is being a part of such a special day for people, and being able to help create a beautiful experience for a couple’s closest friends and family. As much as it’s about creating something that reflects the couple and their personality and love story, it’s also about the guests and how they’ll experience receiving their invitations and the wedding event itself.
