how and when was moon bloom and co born? In 2015, business owner Nicola was engaged to be married and began planning her own wedding. The florals were so important in fulfilling her dream wedding and so she began the search for a florist to create her floral vision. It was during this search that her passion for flowers came into its own. “I have always loved being in the garden and being close to nature and I realised floristry and particularly specialising in weddings and events was my calling. After experiencing the stress, excitement, nerves and pure joy and happiness from my own wedding day I knew I wanted to be part of creating other couples perfect day and so Moon Bloom & Co. was created in 2016”.

is there a story you would like to share from your experiences? Flowers are of course a natural product and sometimes the stock can arrive damaged, wilted or be affected by weather extremes. With this comes a little stress for the florist to source an equally beautiful alternative and ensure the couples dream wedding is fulfilled, Nicola will always guarantee the end result is everything and more for the Bride & Groom.

advice: “Choose a florist you absolutely love. Floristry is a creative industry and each florist will have a different style, the florals are such a huge part of your wedding and can create a feeling within the space. It is so important couples feel confident in that what you have invisioned in your mind and discussed, is what actually eventuates on the day”.

2020 predictions: 2020 will be plentiful of neutrals, whites and elegant designs. Unstructured bouquets and wild, rambling folliage will continue to be popular for weddings. In contrast, strong use of colour and statement folliage will also be popular for couples who want to make a bold impact for their day.

what keeps you inspired along the way? “I am constantly looking for new ideas, new flowers and foliage and ways to create different designs. Floristry is an art and constantly evolves with current & future trends and techniques. No two weddings are ever the same, each design is unique and evolves as it’s created. I love hearing from couples and dreaming up their florals together. I never get bored of looking at flowers, they are all just too beautiful and it amazes me as to how nature can create something so delicate and perfect”.

tell us about the best part about what you do: “The most rewarding part is of course the wedding day! I get very excited in anticipation of flower collection from the markets, floral arrangement creation and delivering the bridal bouquets to the bride. I always try and catch a glimpse of each Bride as she is walking down the aisle when everything comes together, she looks so happy in that moment, it really is a fairytale! I love to hear from my brides the day after about what they thought and seeing their professional photos makes me re-live their day all over again. I feel so lucky to be chosen to be involved in such a large part of a couples wedding day, the start of their journey and the most special and happy occasion”.
